Bordeaux mixture overview.

Used for control of: Plant pathogenic fungi and oomycetes: in this context, the most important is Phytophthora infestans (late potato blight)

Risk to humans and mammals: Not generally considered acutely toxic to humans or mammals.
Risk and Hazard Warnings No immediate risks. Repeated exposure to copper salts, such as Bordeaux mixture, can cause liver and kidney damage. Protective clothing and masks are recommended when working with Bordeaux mixture.

First Aid Thoroughly wash contaminated areas with water. Urgent medical attention is not required, but those exposed to large quantities of Bordeaux mixture should seek medical advice as soon as is convenient.
Risk to other animals: Toxic to fish, not toxic to insects.
Risk to plants: Should only be used as a foliar application at a point in plant development when the risk of phytotoxicity is low.
Other comments: Bordeaux mixture blocks the germination of fungal spores and should only be used before spore germination.
Chemical Structure: A mixture of calcium hydroxide and copper (II) sulfate. The molecular formula H2Ca3Cu4S2O10 is often attached to it.

Chemical properties: Insoluble in water and most common solvents. Is incompatible with alkali-labile pesticides, especially organophosphates and carbamates. Reacts strongly with alkaline materials such as lime-sulfur.
Other trivial names: BBS, Bordocure, Bordolex, Cofol, Comac, Cuprix, Cuprocal, Idrorame, Poltan. A mixture with mancozeb is called FT 2M
