First Aid

Carbaryl is a carbamate insecticide and is poisonous by inhalation, skin absorption, and ingestion. In cases of exposure: thoroughly wash the contaminated areas and remove contaminated clothing. In case of ingestion wash the mouth out and induce vomiting ONLY if the victim is conscious. Seek medical attention immediately.

High levels of exposure resemble nerve agent poisoning and may require treatment with atropine sulfate. However, treatment with oximes is not advised.

Risk to other animals: Some toxicity to birds, very toxic to fish and invertebrates including crustaceans and earthworms.
Risk to plants: Generally not toxic to crop plants and used in some aspects of horticulture and fruit farming.
Other comments: Carbaryl is moderately persistent. It does not accumulate in plants or animals and is generally detoxified reasonably efficiently.
