Used for control of: A non-systemic fungicide for the control of plant pathogenic fungi and also bacteria and plant pathogenic nematodes.

Risk to humans and mammals: The LD50 for chlorothalonil is very high for mammals but it is an eye irritant. Chronic exposure is associated with cancer in rats.

First Aid Throughly rinse contaminated areas with water. Avoid further exposure in the short term and see a doctor as soon as convenient or immediately if eye or skin irritation occur.
Risk to other animals: Very toxic to fish and shellfish Less toxic to insects and birds.
Risk to plants: Can cause russetting in ornamental plants, grapes, and apples.
Other comments: Adverse effects on plants are made worse in the presence of oils.

Chemical properties: Poorly soluble in water, soluble in organic solvents. Aqueous solutions are at acidic and moderately basic pH's. Stable to ultraviolet light.
