Sponsoring individual pages at CBWInfo.com

CBWInfo is committed to supplying useful information on chemical, biological and radiological weapons to those needing it. We are not in this for the money, but we do have costs, such as web site fees, books, hardware and software, journal and magazine subscriptions and so on. You can help us grow and improve the quality and quantity of the information we supply by sponsoring pages. The sponsorship policy is still evolving and may change in specifics. The main points are:

1. Costs

The base charge is $10.00 per page per month payable in advance. Minimum sponsorship period is 3 months. Rates are discounted as follows:

Multiple page sponsorships:

The clock on sponsorship will run from the first of each month and sponsorship will begin as soon as payment has been received. So, if your payments arrives on the second of the month, you will receive the rest of the month free. If the page is already sponsored for the month, your sponsorship will begin when the present sponsorship ends.

2. Sponsorship banners.

Sponsorship will be indicated by an image identifying the sponsor, including links, at the top of the sponsored page, immediately below the navigation bar. The image will be sized to be approximately 2cm high and 5cm across. Sponsors are encouraged to keep the complexity of the image as low as possible and preferably avoid animations. Clicking on links to a sponsors web page on their own site will spawn a new browser window. The content of the new window will be at the discretion of the sponsor.

2a. Pop-up windows.

Pop-up, or pop-under windows, or any other form of advertisement that spawns a new window without user action after the page begins loading will not be allowed. If you try this, we unilaterally cancel the sponsorship agreement and keep the money. Possible exceptions are the frame-based glossary and news sections and we may accept popups for those pages, providing they are popups (not popunders) and that the link includes code that closes the popup when the page unloads.

3. Page content.

Sponsors may not try to exclude content from a page or to affect its content. They may supply additional information that is not polemical or critical of other individuals, organizations, governments, or commercial companies, as part of the sponsorship. Illustrative images, e.g. of equipment or something such as a test readout from a detector, will be welcomed and may be compensated by additional free sponsorship time. This material will be identified as supplied by the sponsor and will be taken off the page when the sponsorship agreement ends unless the sponsor agrees to allow it to stay.

4. Selection of sponsors.

The selection of sponsors from applicants lies solely with CBWInfo. First priority will be given to organizations whose aims are concordant with those of CBWInfo. We reserve to right to reject sponsors, and to discontinue any advertising or sponsorship found to be false or misleading without refund of fees after telling the sponsor of our findings. CBWInfo will make reasonable efforts to assess the probity of its sponsors and advertisers. We will not accept sponsorship from:

If such a site is found to have misrepresented itself to CBWInfo to place sponsorship on our site, the sponsorship links are removed and we keep any fees paid.

5. Contacting us.

We are still developing some components of our web site, including form processing. We will eventually have a suitable request page. In the meantime:

We will then contact you to clarify details and resolve any problems before billing you and beginning page sponsorship.
